HURRY!  HURRY!

I have the advantage over you my friend,
I’ve got time to do what I want.
You’ve got to ‘work your fingers to the bone’..
‘Till your body is weak and gaunt!

There was a time when I was in that race,
Pushing 25 hours into 24.
Then you realize, sooner or later,
That you’re ‘behinder’ more than before!

Just not enough hours to finish it all,
How can we make more time?
You worry and fret about tomorrow,
Will your plans all work out, and in time?

I think we finally get to the stage
Of worrying about tomorrow, wouldn’t you say..
And we get so bogged-down about the next day
That we really don’t utilize our ‘today’!

Well it caught up with me, as it will with you,
It’s just a matter of time.
But I understand now, if you’re having the thought:
“Hey Fella, that’s YOUR problem, not MINE”!

I felt the same way, when I was ‘on the go’,
There just wasn’t time for thinking like that.
I must stay on top in this ball game called life;
Gotta go now, it’s my turn at bat!

Well now I’m playing a different game,
And it’s played at a much slower pace.
I seem to see more of the scenery now,
Since I am officially ‘out of the race’.

Things just don’t seem quite as urgent,
As I once really thought they were.
It seems I have time to see more clearly,
What at one time used to appear as a blur!

Too bad we don’t learn the lesson we should:
To appreciate what’s important, while we can.
If we did, we’d grow old gradually,
Instead of hurrying into being an ‘old man’!
