LAW OR GRACE?

I had a friend who asked me once,
About a question that was on his mind:
He asked, “Would I rather see?
Or would I rather be blind?

Well, actually those weren’t his exact words,
In our conversation, at a relaxed pace.
More specifically what he said was:
“Did I know the difference between LAW and GRACE?”

Well, at first I kind of chuckled,
As our conversation continued to roam;
Then the idea finally struck me,
What a beautiful idea for a poem!

“Law and Grace”, no poem could contain
The difference between the two.
I’m so happy to be alive in His Grace,
Just between me and you!

Under the ‘LAW’, we’re all condemned,
No Hope!  No way out!
But because of ‘Grace’ I am forgiven.
That’s what the Lord’s grace is all about.

I thank Him daily for his grace
And for this friend with whom I ‘rachet-jaw’,
For the forgiveness He extends through Grace,
THAT’s the difference between Grace and Law!

Under the Law, we were lost and blind,
His grace gave us back our sight.
I’d say that the contrast between them
Is like the difference between DAY and NIGHT!
