LONELY ANT
Today I noticed a tiny little ant, In the center of a tile on the floor.
I turned from my work for a moment or two, And wondered....as I looked for
more.. I wondered why it stayed where it was, While the others
moved on, quite intent? They seemed to have a destination in mind,
....Inch by inch...........they went. Each tile they traveled must
have seemed gigantic; But they crossed them, one by one. I couldn't help
but wonder about that lone little ant, "Didn't they invite you in, on the
fun?" Perhaps the UNKNOWN caused it not to move forward, While the
rest of its peers traveled on. I thought to myself, "How sad for that ant,
Before long, all the others will be gone!" Will it remain all alone on
that tile, After the others all pass it by? A chill went through me as I
had the thought, "Will it be alone 'till the day that it dies?"
Then it occured to me, there are people in life, Very much like that little
ant... Afraid to move on...they might 'get hurt'... They want to move
on, but the can't! Suddenly someone said something to me; I stepped
closer to ask what he said, But when I returned to the spot where it was..
I found the little ant, ...........DEAD! It WOULDN'T move on, and it
COULDN'T stay there, Was there a reason to fear and dread The moving-on
because it 'might get hurt?' I believe that's why the ant is dead!
