MY GIFT

I often think, what gift can I leave
To my children, whom I really love?
I don’t have much, materially to give,
So my thoughts turn to gifts from ‘above’.
 
If I could be remembered, by the ‘gifts’ I leave,
I’d rather it wasn’t the ‘material’ stuff.
Keepsakes, tools, furniture, and the like,
They’re nice, but they’re just not enough.
 
I’d rather leave the gift of LIFE,
But I wonder, ‘how can I accomplish this’?
They’re thinking, “He’s dead and gone,
What have WE got,.... that was HIS?”
 
This makes me think back, to MY main gift,
That I received in the name of LOVE.
My Saviour, Jesus, gave ME salvation,
How can I pass IT on to those I love?
 
Jesus gave it to ME, with ONE condition:
That I receive HIS message, and BELIEVE.
I guess my main hope for my children is,
You’ll do the same, discover it, and receive!
 
If Salvation were meant for just ONE generation,
Today, we would ALL be lost!
HE said, “I must die, so that YOU may LIVE,
Accept this,     .... but count the cost”.
 
I have experienced HIS Word to be TRUE,
He’s seen me through so many ordeals.
It’s hard to relay, in words alone
Just how being SAVED, really feels!
 
I know each one of you knows without doubt,
Just exactly what I’m trying to say.
That if I COULD give it, I’d do it right now..
I’d give you SALVATION, ... today!
 
Your troubles don’t stop, there will be trials;
But when they come, HE helps ‘weather the storms’,
But it’s not up to ME, to offer YOU this gift;
It must come from HE, who suffered those thorns!
 
It was JESUS who died, and offered ME this gift,
That I wish I could freely give ... I DO!
But all I can do, is to relay HIS words,
HIS sacrifice was for me.....AND for YOU!
 
There’s the catch, the gift was GIVEN,
But we EACH must CHOOSE to receive!
I’ve received it, and with no regrets...
Won’t YOU choose this gift, and believe?
