REWIRED

There are many folks who confuse some words;
They think one is the same as the other...
Each word has a meaning, a purpose to serve,
And are as different as sister and brother.

The words, at this moment that I have in mind,
Are related, but clearly not the same.
A rose is a rose, as the old saying goes,
But it’s still a flower, no matter the name!

The words I refer to are ‘tired’ and ‘sleepy’.
And so often, the two are confused.
But stop a moment, and give it some thought;
How reversed many times, they are used.

When one is tired, after a hard days work,
And all that’s needed is to unwind.
A change of pace, or an easing off
Is what can calm the body, or the mind.

It doesn’t mean that you require sleep,
That eight hours of ‘zeez’ are what’s in store.
It could mean you need a change of pace
To prevent routine from becoming a bore.

Now the word, ‘sleepy’, that’s another story,
A certain amount of it is required.
To replenish our bodies, and yes even our minds,
But you can be sleepy, without being tired!

I guess the thought I’m trying to convey
Is more elusive than what I surmised.
But haven’t you been ‘tired’ and gone to bed
Just to find that you were all ‘wide-eyed’?

You can’t go to sleep, you’re just not sleepy,
But your body is tired, there’s no doubt.
I finally have an insight into this dilemma,
And I think this is what it’s all about:

The BODY gets TIRED:  The MIND gets SLEEPY,
REST and SLEEP will satisfy the TWO.
But sometimes they don’t occur simultaniously,
So the question is then, what do you do?

I don’t have the answer; I’m still working on it.
But while doing so, my body’s getting TIRED!
I guess the ideal solution would be..
To take it in and have it ‘REWIRED’!
