Thank You Lord

Not really a 'poem'; Just expressing my thoughts on this beautiful day:

One advantage of being ‘mature’ and retired is I find there’s a bit more time to reflect on things.  It doesn’t take a lot of energy – maybe that’s why I do it so often...

It’s spring time as I write this and I truly enjoy stepping out into our back yard area to simply relax in our little glider-swing as I watch and reflect.  What do I watch?  Well, nothing in particular… just whatever seems to catch my interest.  This morning, it was the small American flag we have mounted on the deck railing.  It’s getting a bit tattered, much like our country is experiencing, but it still waved proudly in the gentle breeze that came from…. well, not really sure about that either… where the breeze came from or where it was going, but I’m happy it was there, and for that I think, “Thank You Lord!”

Yep, our country may be a bit tattered, but I believe it’s still the best country a person could choose to live in and because of that the words again stream from my mind and upward, “Thank You Lord!”

I especially enjoyed watching the birds as they each descended to the small pieces of bread on top of our garage. (Handy way to feed them where they’re safe from the neighborhood cat.)
It was interesting watching them hurriedly peck at each small morsel.  It seemed each time they took a bite they would then stop and sort of look up.  I don’t know what they were looking at, or what they were looking for, but they all seemed to do it.  I think some silly person once said that was just the way birds swallow and he may have been right, but I had another thought.  I wonder if they were doing as I was, meditating on good things and then expressing their gratitude.  Who knows?  I prefer to think they were each pecking away, and then looking up and in their own way saying, “Thank You Lord!”

Yep, it’s a beautiful spring morning and I’m enjoying it, and you guessed it, for that again I say, “Thank You Lord!”
