THAT INNER VOICE

In the wee hours of the morning,
I sit here pondering the day.
I wonder if I spent my time wisely,
Or did I spend too much time, at play?
 
We’re each alloted a period of time,
To do what the Lord would have us do.
I often fall short of His expectations.
Does this ever happen to you?
 
My intentions are good, early in the day;
But as time wears-on, I wear-down.
On days like that, I go to bed wondering
If the Lord wears a smile, or a frown?
 
I can make all kinds of excuses,
But I guess the truth of the matter is:
I forget the day that he’s given me
Is not really MINE.....it’s HIS!
 
I can choose to spend my time wisely,
Or foolishly, He gave me the choice;
But when I don’t make the best of the day
I begin to hear an ‘Inner Voice’.
 
It speaks to me very often,
And do you know what it has to say?
It asks, “Did you spend your time wisely,
Or did you spend too much time, at play?”
