TO CLEAR THE AIR

I've had a special past two weeks,
A lot of good, clean fun...
As suspected, when I wrote 'Special Friend',
That its sequel could be a heavier one.
 
I guess that what I'm trying to say,
Tho the whole story is still not out..
Is, be careful, don't like too strongly
Unless you know what it's all about!
 
In the process of learning what it's all about
Much understanding and concern was there.
Now it's time to back off a bit,
So that we both can 'Clear The Air'.
 
It seems nearly every relationship
I've ever become involved in,
Was filled with reservation and caution..
That's just the way it's been!
 
This one is following the same pattern,
There is a drastic difference, tho.
This is the most sincere it's been,
At least for Papa Joe.
 
I've captured a bird that was flying by,
A refreshing, beautiful Dove,
Who has a fantastic beauty within,
But with a question of whom to love!
 
Two weeks, you say, is so short a time,
To be afflicted by Cupid's dart.
My mind agrees, it is a short time,
But try to convince my heart!
 
I realize now, what I have to do:
That beautiful dove needs 'open air'...
If it should fly back into my world again
I'll know then, that it really cares.
 
A sincere relationship must be based on that,
It's not a prisoner I'm looking for.
One who will fly against the wind to join me
Will be the one welcomed at my door!
 
So while we back-off to have some space,
Maybe my mind and heart will agree...
But I feel right now, without hesitation
That THIS is the Dove for me!
