TWENTY BIRTHDAY CAKES

Some people remember important dates of the past,
And think back over fond memories.
Others remember the different eras in their life,
So, I’ll do that now, if you please.
 
I can think of many happy moments in my life,
They run through my mind, so free.
I was about to become a father, again
In September, of Sixty-three!
 
I was already a typical proud father because,
Our first-born was a God given boy.
As I spoke to the Lord, I related to Him:
A healthy GIRL would sure bring us joy!
 
I didn’t deserve it, but He heard my prayers.
His answer set my mind awhirl!
On September 9th, Nineteen Sixty Three
I was father to a special little Girl!
 
It was hard to imagine, I must admit,
She was so wrinkled, red and so clammy!
That that tiny bundle of noise in a blanket
Would be my beautiful twenty year old Tammy!
 
Yes, she’s twenty tonight and I thank the Lord
For every day He’s given us together.
Through her childhood problems and teen-age dilemmas,
With the Lords’ help, she’s learning how to weather-
 
The rough times that we must all go through,
She’s no exception, she’s had her share;
I’m convinced she knows where the answers are,
From her loving God!  She knows He cares!
 
Tammy makes me feel like quite a success,
In spite of my many mistakes!
That’s why I’ve enjoyed her blowing out candles
From the past Twenty Birthday Cakes!
